Our cart.

Our friend Adam loves our cart, too.

Thank the lord

The girls are back! Yay!

On another note- I posit the question "what is the correct length for cut off jean shorts?"

Answer:
Not sure but this ain't it.

Cheesy, maybe

Thanks to Jason Sturgill, he of recent Archer fame, for the tip to check out hipstamatic. I am somewhat anti fotoshop for making fotoshop look olde but I do love this for the iPhone. Not sure about the semantics but seems like a camera-phone is crappy to begin with so some digital fakery is ok.

Curb your enthusiasm

Okay, Larry David makes me stressed out. Love him because I feel like him alot but oh my, hard to watch. I think Treva would agree that sometimes while I am in my head hilarious sometimes my mouth not so much. But he kills me.

How crazy is that? That's Kari's car and Treva's car from way back. Our hammock up on the deck. Scamp out front. Whoosh, nostalgia.

and then there was one.

Yesterday Lina had us over to show us how to make cheese- pretty cool stuff. The mozz wouldn't cooperate due to the ultra-pastuerization, that bad bad milk. She also let us sample her pickles. I am thinking she'll need a costume to go with her new moniker of "The Pickle Lady" We were invited over to Donna and Justin's for paella but couldn't go because it was our last night together for awhile. Boo.

Today I dropped mom off at the airport at around 11 this morning, we had a great visit. It is a hazy shade of winter today, adding to the quiet in the house without bodies colliding around. Boo! I was thinking to go surfing but instead lay around a bit eating popcorn and just listening to the town go round.

I had to go pick up the golf cart some clients rented through my friend Gaston, on the way back I gave a ride to a young couple who needed to get to the vet so they could show that the dog they had found here had all the appropriate shots! So awesome! That made me happy.

Crazy day

Maybe I got more done back in the old days but I am not sure. Today... Got up at 6:30, didn't make coffee because we ran out, ate breakfast, took astrid to school and picked up Justin and Dave to go to lancha for 2 hours of mediocre waves. Rushed back to the house where I talked to Belen for awhile, checked my phone and had an actual message! Astrid had an achy stomach so I went to go get her. Returned to the house after to make smoothies for mom and myself. Napped briefly. Went back to school to get Treva and we gave a ride to Gabbi into town. Took out money to pay our friend for a jewelry order my other friend placed, Treva to get jewelry to send from the states. Shopped for sushi dinner tonight. Balanced the slim finances. Prepped for dinner. Now I have a few minutes to lay on the bed and contemplate.

All before 5 pm!

Things for which I am thankful

I wish I had a way to capture the still life I just saw. Hand picking up toothbrush with toothpaste Treva made, the rainbow slinky poised on the edge of the sink. It pretty much perfectly encapsulates living with an (almost) 11 year old and my wife, the new age-ish I-can-make-that glue that holds it all together.

We had a wonderful birthday time down at the beach.

Stuff

We are having a great time with my mom visiting- I added her blog to the sidebar as she is writing, such a treat to read! Life here is in full tilt with Astrid's birthday around the corner, mom here, good surf, lots of social activity, design for various fundraisers, new business starting and the regular goings on. It is pretty insane, I feel like it is a whirlwind but from the old life it probably seems like time standing still.

I am in the middle of watching The Road. I can barely get through 20 minutes at a time before having to step away and do something else. It is pretty intense, for me at least. I don't remember the book being so crazily dark and suspenseful. And I love those things!
